If you have a question about DN2, it'll be more than likely answered in here. We advise that you at least read the questions, and read on to the answers if it's something you think you need to know. Staff, feel free to edit this thread at your discretion if you want to add or change a question!
Q: What exactly is this site about?
A: The Creator, a tyrannical, insane being, used the power of the mysterious Insanity Orb to create a dimension of his very own. Now, he spawns portals in your dimension to capture humans and send them there, where they are transformed into Pokemon. You play the role of a captured human trying to find his/her bearings in this strange, new world, and to find a way back to his/her own (or not, if you like it here!)
Q: I can't login/register, or the human verification question says I got the answer wrong!
A: Try refreshing the home page. If it says you are still not logged in, then please contact a staff member through the cbox or Etherpad, and we'll resolve the problem shortly.
Q: I'm not exactly confident in my writing abilities, and/or I'm not very good at typing up long responses. Is that OK with you guys?
A: Sure! At DN2, we not only accept members of all literacy levels, but we have no limitations on post length and style. All we ask is that you have a basic understanding of English and don't put everything in shorthand in your posts. (i.e. no "u", "lol", "omg", etc.)
Q: So, I wanted to make a character, but the starter I want is not on the list. Can I have that starter anyway?
A: Actually, you can! However, you must agree to let your mod be able to moderate your character however he/she wants. That means he/she can push reality to the very edge of surrealism. Be very careful; only choose this option if you don't mind having a confusing and/or difficult journey.
Q: Are you mad at me for not responding very often to my own characters' threads?
A: No, of course not! You can feel free to take as much time as you want to make a reply. Whether the reason is because you have a lot going on in real life, or you have many other RP sites you go to, or even if you just feel like taking a long break, your threads and mods will always be there, patiently waiting for your response.
Q: Are characters just limited to their standard, level-up moveset, or are there TMs?
A: Neither. In DN2, there are items called the Tutor Helmet and the Program Disks. Plug a disk into a helmet, and any Pokemon wearing that helmet will be able to learn the move contained within the disk. The type of the move and the user don't matter at all; you can teach Hydro Pump to a Charizard, or Hyper Beam to a Magikarp if you want! Oh yeah, and there are these things called Advanced Moves, too.
Q: Tell me more about these Advanced Moves...
A: Every Pokemon, in addition to their standard moveset, can learn powerful techniques unique to this dimension called Advanced Moves as they get stronger. When learning a new Advanced Move, a Pokemon can choose from any three of 27 Move Pools (or a collection of at least 10 moves that vary depending on the character's type and personality).
Q: Don't you have a cbox or something?
A: Look to the left.
Q: Nobody's responding to me on the cbox!
A: Actually, we have three different chatrooms, including the cbox, that we communicate on. Most of us hang out in
Etherpad daily, and we use that to chat. Also, there is a Userplane chatroom that supports audio and video underneath the cbox. If nobody seems to be paying attention to the cbox, try checking out either of the other chatrooms. There's usually at least one person on who can answer your questions or keep you company!
Q: Can I advertise my site here, or request to affiliate it with DN2?
A: Of course. There's a sub-board located
here that you can use to post your site's information. If you want to affiliate, scroll down to the bottom of the page where you'll see DN2's banner and code. Copy that code and put it into your own affiliates box. Then, post your banner and code in the thread, and we'll add yours to ours.
Q: Why do some people have red names? They aren't staff members, are they...?
A: These are Veterans. A DN2 Veteran has been around long enough to know the ins and outs of how we roll, and are granted a few extra privileges, including the ability to moderate characters' threads themselves. If you want to become a veteran, stick around, be part of the community, try to be active, and most importantly, be friendly and considerate. After a while (a few months, give or take), a staff member will send you a PM asking if you want to be a veteran, if they think you have what it takes. (Don't repeatedly ask if you can be a veteran... doing so will only ensure that you will NOT become one. Just be patient and do your best!)
Q: I have a question that is not on this list.
A: We'll be happy to answer it! You may PM a staff member, or go to Etherpad (linked to in the Important Threads/Links on the left-hand side of the page) or even ask in the cbox. You are practically certain to get an answer promptly!
