{PLOT} Ice Climbers

Fionn Peak is easily the tallest mountain in the entire dimension. Very few non-Ice-types have ever made it to the top, and even flying types have difficulty due to the thinness of the air. Most mountain-climbers that do reach the top are too satisfied that they've made it to do much else other than erect a flag or get a picture taken. Nobody ever thinks to search a little harder... after all, it's a pretty unique place that could have a myriad of uses for several parties...

Getting up the mountain is easy... for the first thousand feet or so, until the trail ends and the real climbing begins. There are sparse ledges and footholds along the way, and a few guidance nails from climbers of the past, but some areas are completely vertical. There have been a few reported occasions of Pokemon slipping and having horrible accidents, getting lost in the harsh conditions or just falling off the mountain. This is what mountain climbers fear the most. If you plan on climbing this hardy mound of rock and ice, I hope you're not afraid of heights...

This Plot thread is for 2-3 players; you'll at least need a partner to help you up the mountain, but not too many to keep track of. Don't forget that each character can only be in one thread at a time, so choose wisely. If you've come to climb the mountain, you may start with any mountain-climbing equipment you deem necessary; and besides your actual inventory, you may not bring any other extra items.

Doug eyed Fionn Peak as he approached the mountain. He had been waiting for an opporitunity to climb it as soon as he had heard about it. In his most recent quest for fame, he was looking for a publicity stunt that might make him a bit better known without degrading his reputation. What better way to do that than by being one of the few to have climbed Fionn Peak. Being able to Teleport, he could at least give it a shot without taking too big of a risk. If he fell, he could just warp to a safe place. As far as the Abra could see, this was going to be easy.

As soon as Mabel heard about Fionn Peak, she just had to pack up and set out. One of the things she enjoyed the most was setting foot on the road less traveled; and in this case, only a handful have traveled it before. And before long, Mabel was going to be one of that handful. Or so she hoped. The sheer size of the mountain would have intimidated the average Pokemon, but never Mabel. She couldn't keep from imagining what the view must be like from up there...

A few minutes of wistful foresight later, she snapped back to reality. This mountain wasn't about to climb itself! She double-checked her gear. She had everything a mountain-climber would need; including ropes, picks, hooks, and even a camera. That was it, all the preparation she needed. She didn't, however, stop to consider the dangers of climbing, especially alone, and her being in a body that she still wasn't 100% accustomed to, and certainly wasn't built for climbing mountains. That's one of the advantages of being reckless; you're also fearless. And perhaps fear is what hinders adventurers the most.
