Sam had to hand it to this rookie cop. Whatever the Dimensional Guard did, they sure trained well. Rob's assesment of their behavior proved it. But that meant that this guy was serious. Mike and himself absolutely needed to avoid trouble. Sam still wasn't entirely sure why, but based off of Robs attitude tward humans, he thought it best to keep from saying that he was indeed a human. Didn't matter though. They just needed to get to James and head home. This had to be the right lead. If it wasn't, then they might NEVER find James.

As they walked into the city, Sam remained silent. No need to say more than he needed to, but if Rob started asking questions, he would have to take control of the conversation and ask them himself. Come on Sam. You know the signs of a liar. The trouble starts when you work to hard to cover them up. Just relax and focus on your breathing. What do I usually do with my hands? Oh right, I don't have those anymore.

Rob couldn't help but notice the silence behind them as they entered the noisy Jarikar City. The sight of the big buildings and masses of Pokemon didn't do anything to Mike any louder. He was way too nervous. All he felt he could do was just keep walking and try to keep a straight face. There was no way he was going to mess this up for them, he hoped. If anything happened, it would be because Rob had finally caught onto them. But otherwise, they'd be fine. All they needed to do was find James. That Surskit had to be somewhere in city.

But where would they start looking? Jarikar was a much bigger city then Mike had expected. There were skyscrappers for crying out loud. He couldn't remember a bigger city back before the dimension changed. "...Did...do you know where in the city he might be?" Mike asked Rob. The question made Rob smile. Finally, someone said something! It seemed weird to have his only company not say anything in one of the most exciting cities in the dimension. "Not a clue! But I'm sure my partner does. They should be here soon..." He looked up at the sky, as he said this, as though he expected a Riolu to fly out of a nearby cloud. "What do you two think of this place? Anywhere you wanna stop while we're here? They have plenty of shops, in case you need supplies." He told them.

Sam hadn't eaten in a while... and he supposed they may want to look around. Besides, the busier they stayed, the less likely they would be asking questions. Sam hadn't thought about it too much, but he was starting to question why he was hiding the fact that he was a human in the first place. The thought was fleeting though, as an answer came quickly Because of Mike's reaction to the Guard, silly.

"Yeah, we may want to take a look around and see if there's anything worthwhile, right Mike?" Sam asked. He personally didn't care if they went or not, he was only going in hopes that he could dodge being grilled over James and the human thing.

Mike looked over at Sam questionably. Did they really need to go shopping, at a time like this? When they were trying to find one small Surskit in a huge city? "Um..." He tried to think. Sam seemed to want to go look around. Mike figured that he must have a good reason. "Sure, yeah. Maybe we should stock up on traveling supplies." He nodded. Who knows, maybe they'd run into James while they were looking around the city. Though, judging on by the number of Pokemon that seemed to be walking around, he seriously doubted that.

"Alright. I guess we can take our time here. I don't have to be back at base for awhile, and neither does my partner. Speaking of partner..." Rob looked around. Where was that Riolu friend of his? "Maybe I should go find them while you two look around. How about we meet...right outside of the general store? Hopefully I'll be able to introduce you two to my partner by then." He said.

"Sounds great." Sam said. He wasn't all that excited about shopping either. It always seemed like a hassle, but if it got this Riolu away, even for a brief moment, it was worth a look. With that, Sam turned to Mike and asked, "Where to first?"

Mike quickly started to look around for a place they could slip off to. "Um...Um..." Finally, something caught his eye. It was a cluster of stalls, all with at least one sign glued to them advertising sales. In other words, the average shopper's paradise. "Over there looks good. Lots of stuff to look at and...stuff." He glanced over at Rob. "I guess we'll see you later Rob. Bye!" He tried not to look like he was rushing as he said goodbye, but ended up turning toward the stalls right after nearly making a beeline for them. Traveling with a member of the Dimensional Guard was really starting to get to him.

When he got the the group of stalls, he turned around to see if Sam had followed him yet. Whatever the case, Rob didn't seem to notice anything suspicious and had decided to leave the two to their shopping. There were many signs saying things like "Buy two Energy Apples, get one free" and such. If they did decide to go shopping, this would be the place. Some of the prices might have been better then the ones that could be found at the general store.

Sam had, of course, followed Mike. He was currently looking around to make sure the stalls were a safe place, away from the guard. Satisfied, he began, "Ok, all we're going to pick up is probably just some food to keep our cover that we're shopping. Got it?" Without waiting for a reply, Sam continue as he started browsing through one of the stalls, the one advertizing the deal on Energy Apples. "So whats the big deal? I mean, why hide that I'm a human from the Guard? Is it illegal or something?"

Mike frowned as he looked over the Energy Apples at the stall. "It's not illegal or anything. I mean, the Creator is the one who decided to bring former humans into the dimension. " He picked up three Energy Apples as he said this. "But I don't know much about the Dimensional Guard. I don't know how they react to humans. It might be best to keep quiet for awhile. At least until we know if they care about humans or not. " For all Mike knew, members of the Dimensional Guard might not care if Sam used to be a human or not. But if they did, and Rob decided to take things into his own hands, they could end up getting into a down right nasty battle.

"That'll be 100 parabucks, sir." The owner of the stall, which happened to be a Bronzor, said. Mike handed the Bronzor 100 parabucks. "That was a bargain. Are you going to buy some, Sam?" Mike turned and asked him. Because Mike had his back turned, he didn't see the Poliwhirl with an arm full of Energy Apples trying to sneak past him. And it didn't seem like the Poliwhirl was very concerned about him, or Sam either. As soon as he got a good grip on all the apples he was carrying, he turn and ran. Bronzor didn't even notice that someone was stealing his hard-earned Energy Apples.

Sam saw the Poliwhirl with the apples and decided he needed to do something. He already had let one criminal get away (the little brat.) He couldn't afford to have two smudges on his otherwise spotless record at once.

But then Sam realized how little he could really do at the moment. He couldn't expect to confront that Poliwhirl. Not alone at least. That was it! All he needed to do was draw attention to the thief, then surely someone would catch him.

"Hey! Mr. Poliwhirl!" Sam yelled trying to get the attention of the thief, or at least draw someone's attention. He realized he had disregarded Mike's question, but he would have to understand.

Sam's yell was loud enough to get the attention of many Pokemon nearby, and they turned to see the Poliwhirl that he was yelling at. The crowd quickly realized that the Poliwhirl was a thief and many of the Pokemon, including the shopkeeper Bronzor, started to panic. "A thief, a thief! Oh please, someone stop that thief! Help, help, oh help! My Energy Apples are being stolen!" The Bronzor cried. A customer from a nearby stall, an Electrike, tried to paralyze the Poliwhril with a Thunder Wave attack. Sadly, the weak jolt of electricity missed Poliwhril.

Ironically enough, Rob wasn't anywhere in sight. None of the Dimensional Guard seemed to be around, and so there was nobody to stop the thief. This motivated Poliwhirl to run faster; he was going to get away with stealing those Energy Apples for sure!

Sam wasn't sure what he was going to do but he had to do something. He floated off as quickly as he could, faster than he ever had before, after the poliwhirl. He was pretty sure he wouldn't be able to keep up, but he couldn't just sit there. He already had one criminal on the loose here. He didn't need another.

Mike watched with an open mouth as a Poliwhirl tried to steal some Energy Apples. It was almost comical at how the crowd failed to stop him. He didn't even notice that Sam had disregarded his question, and instead turned to look at him. "Hey, Sam...I hate to ask but, do you think we should do something." He wasn't sure he wanted to get involved, but at the same time, he felt bad for the Bronzor shopkeeper. He waited for an answer, but there was no need. Sam floated off quicker then he had ever before after the Poliwhirl. 'Yeah...I somehow knew he couldn't resist...what with being a cop and all...' Mike thought, and ran after him.

Poliwhirl kept running, but glanced back to make sure he wasn't being pursued. Unfortunately for him, there seemed to be a Beldum and Aron following him. He growled, realizing that the Beldum that was following him was the one that alerted the crowd of shoppers to his presence. Who did this kid think he was? Some sort of hero? A Dimensional Guard wannabe? To make matters worse, the Beldum was gaining on him. At least the Aron wasn't so fast.

"Fine...I'll just have to lose them. I don't have time for this." Poliwhirl grumbled to himself. He could see an alley up ahead. 'Perfect!' Without a second though, Poliwhirl turned and ran into the dark alley, hoping that the two following him wouldn't think it a good idea to go into such a place.

Sam knew it wasn't a good idea to go into that alley. Sure he had a Police badge, but that and a dollar in the shadier parts of town in DN1... well... it usually gets your dollar stolen, that's for sure. Regardless, Sam needed to keep tabs on this guy. He ducked into the alley and took a quick look around to see if it was safe or not. He still had some sense of how weak he was despite his strong sense of duty.

Poliwhirl looked back once he was halfway through the alley, only to see that Sam had followed him. "WHAT? What kind of moron...if that's how you wanna play..." He grumbled to himself and took a step forward. "Ey! Ey, you!" He was quite angry at Sam. "Hero wannabe! Do you really think you're gonna stop me? Take this!" Poliwhirl jumped forward, but then released a quick spray of painful, shiny bubbles. "A bubble attack, right in your face and hard to dodge!" He sure liked to hear himself talk.

Sam reacted quickly after the Poliwhirl shot his Bubble attack. He threw himself at the wall of the alley hoping to make himself harder to hit, and figuring it would make it easier to dodge the bubbles. It had worked for the most part, staying close to the wall and ducking any bubbles he saw coming, until a couple bubbles managed to hit him. Slightly startled by the hit, he fell through the air for a foot before catching himself. He knew if he wanted to counter attack he would have to get in close, and he definitely couldn't allow himself to get hit hard enough that he could lose the Poliwhirl.

"Had enough yet?" The Poliwhirl called, stopping his Bubble attack. He had noticed that the Beldum managed to dodge most of his attack, and that annoyed him greatly. But maybe it startled him enough to leave him alone. "Don't follow me if you know what's good for you..." Poliwhirl trailed off when he saw an Aron run into the alley. "Hey, Sam...are you alright?" Mike asked, noticing that Sam was against the wall. He was about to ask why when he saw the Poliwhirl. "H...hey! You gotta give those Energy Apples back!" Mike yelled at him.

Now Poliwhirl was angry. It took forever, but now the Beldum's reinforcements were here. 'Oh, that's it! I'm going to end this right here. I don't need two Pokemon on my tail!' Poliwhirl shot out more bubbles, but this time more forcefully, hoping the blow the two Pokemon away with a Bubblebeam attack.

Looking at the pattern of the bubbles, Sam figured that if he could move in a bit closer, the bubbles would be less spread out from their source and therefore easier to dodge. As he tried to move in, however, a stray bubble came in for a direct hit. Sam was thrown backwards and realized the downside of this plan. The bubbles closer to the poliwhirl had more force behind them. He still managed to find a safe place and decided to wait there for Mike to catch up to him. In the meantime, he used Recharge to recover a bit of his energy he lost trying to close the gap between him and the Poliwhirl.

Mike pressed himself against the wall as much as he could in an attempt to dodge the Bubblebeam attack. The majority of the bubbles missed him, but what did hit him stung badly. "Ouch...I...hate...water!" He mumbled to himself as he made his way over to Sam. "What is this guy's problem...I'll show him a thing or two!" he told Sam. Mike jumped forward just as the Bubblebeam ended and, taking a moment to aim carefully, shot a small stream of mud at Poliwhirl. He was hoping that the Mud-slap attack would lower Poliwhirl's accuracy and give Sam a better opening.

"Oy! Stubborn, are ya?" Poliwhirl called out to the two after seeing that his Bubblebeam failed to blow them away, or even knock them over for that matter. "I'll-" He would have finished his sentence if it wasn't for the mud that was suddenly flung into his face. "Arrrgh!" He growled, trying to get the mud off. Poliwhirl seemed to be momentarily distracted.

Sam finished Recharging and, now refreshed, decided to take this opening. He threw himself foreward in a Take Down attack aimed at Poliwhirl's body. Great. Now if we can just hold him here until help comes, he's as good as captured. Sam was of course assuming that in that large crowd, at least one person would have called the local authorities.

"Urgh...sand...Arons...sand...GAHH!!" Poliwhirl was still grumbling to himself, rather loudly. So loud, in fact, that he didn't so much as hear Sam coming at him. As soon as he had managed to wipe most of the mud off his face, he was hit right in the stomach by Sam's Take Down attack. "...offfah!" He couldn't manage to say much more, since the air was knocked right out of him. Poliwhirl fell on his back and stayed there, trying to regain his breath. Mike rushed over to where Sam was. "There's more where that came from. Return what you've stolen!" He said.

But Poliwhirl still didn't want to cooperate. "Ah, shut up! Who do you guys think you are, the Dimensional Guard?" He would have laughed if he could, but instead focused on getting up. "Now I'm telling YOU to give it up. Or YOU won't know what hit you." He directed most of his threat to Sam.
